3/31/04 Hi Art, Actually the main reason I am writing is to give you some
feedback on the Naperville show. In a word - awesome! It seems like
every time we see you, the band gets better. I'd have to say right now
that you are my favorite touring band, and we look for your name first when
deciding what shows to attend. We enjoy all of your older material, and
your new material is terrific. Such songs as "Alkali," "I
Can See Clearly Now," and your rendition of "Jacob's Ladder"
have become show-stopping additions to your repertoire.
"Alkali" is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. It is
so atmospheric, and Dale's dobro work adds an appropriately haunting element. Also, I have never heard
"Orange Blossom Special" done better by you or anyone else than on
Saturday night. When Stephanie asks the audience if they'd like to hear a
harmonica tune, my heart skips a beat in anticipation. And by the way, what did
you give Dale for dinner Saturday? He was an absolute madman during the evening show. He had me on the edge of my seat, and I could feel the
audience's response to what he was doing all around me. That boy was in the zone! Lastly, I have to mention that the joy you and Stephanie share
in each other on stage is an inspiration. S & C - Illinois
3/13/04 Art - thanks for the music! It's often just what my life needs. Keep the CDs coming. Please rush "Like A River." I need it. - W. M. - Wisconsin
12/23/03 Hi All, hope you are having a great holiday break with your families. Here is my phone number so you can get a hold of me if you feel like doing some ice fishing or just want to stop in for a home cooked venison dinner while you are on the road in northern Minnesota. I also wanted to thank you all again for playing Northland Ballroom and having such a great appreciation and love for music as well as those who enjoy listening. People and music so pure aren't easily found these days. As my friend Matt said in the documentary, "Northland Ballroom is the type of place that you will be telling stories about twenty years from now." Thanks for the memories and melodies that will be with all of us forever. Cheers, B. J. - Minnesota
8/20/03 - Dear Art, Stephanie, Bruce and Dale - I saw your show at Rockome Gardens on August 17. All the bands were excellent, but none finer than yours. Great job. Hope to see you again soon. I have had the cd Lonely Days for several months and you were the reason that I came down for the show. I sure wasn't disappointed. Keep up the great work. - S. C. - Illinois

3/24/03 Art and
Stephanie,
3/7/03 Hi All! We write to you from Sweden to tell you how much we like your music. My cousin sent us your CD Dusty Boxcar Wall and we really enjoy it. Have looked at your web-site and read a little about you too, we also listened to your new CD and we liked that very much. Hope we can hear your music live next time we visit Wisconsin. Wish you good luck and lots of love from us in Sweden. - N & U
1/27/03 Art and Band, A great day I remember for a long time, at a bluegrass festival at the Three Sisters Park in western Illinois, you performed a tune " Little Red Wagon", My father sang that tune many times when I was a young kid. My dad has been gone over twenty years, When you sang the song, as up beat as it is I had tears in my eyes thinking of him. Then the next morning in a workshop you allowed me to play my fiddle with you while you performed the tune for me one time. Thank you so much for the fond memories. I love your music and look forward to visiting with you again real soon. One of your real fans, D. H. - Illinois
12/01/02 What a great show! Chip, thanks so much. The band was
professional,
tight and well rehearsed. The talent was phenomenal. The a capella
numbers were a real treat. Thanks again! - A. O. - Illinois
11/29/02 Chip Covington's American Legion series closed off a strong Fall with Art Stevenson and High Water. I'd heard great things, but they exceeded expectations! Great singing and musicianship, high energy, great choice of old and new tunes and they really made the audience happy to be there. And, more important, they seemed really happy to be playing for us. - D. D. - Illinois
9/8/02 Dear Art, I was at Salem, IL and told you that you were the best band I have ever seen, since that night I have listened to every tape you sold there. I have been all over southern IL and you play the harmonica better than the ones I have heard...I just can't get enough of your music, I can't pick a favorite one but Stephanie does such a wonderful job on the song Down At The Cross. It just gives me such pleasure hearing it. Well, thank you so much for bringing so much joy into my life by being able to see your band in person and now I can enjoy your CD's. - G. M. - Illinois
7/30/02 I am so happy that you will be at this years Bluegrass festival. We have a special reason this year. My father was a long time Bluegrass lover. His love for Bluegrass got us all into it. Your group was at the festival in Zimmerman a few years ago. I sat next to my dad and we really loved your performance. Afterwards we went over and we both bought CD's that you all autographed. My father passed away this April from a long battle (7 years) with cancer. At his funeral I talked about Daddy and his love for Bluegrass. I chose as his processional a happy song that Dad loved. We had piped thru the church speakers your CD with the song - Orange Blossom Special. The whole church smiled. We walked Daddy's casket out of the church listening to your song. Thanks for helping us thru this even if you didn't know that you did. This is going to be a hard time for us all going to our first festival without Daddy there but I know that he is in heaven singing bluegrass hymns. I sure hope that you play "Daddy's song" this year. You will bring tears to our eyes but they will be happy tears. Thanks again for being a part of our festival. - D. F. - Minnesota
6/10/02 - Art & Stephanie - Saw you over the weekend in Chillicothe and was amazed! What made you stand out during Saturday's show was the obvious joy you find in performing. Your enthusiasm, along with the peppy way Stephanie dances with her upright bass, was a delight to see. Not to mention that everyone in the band is a very talented singer and musician. I got 2 of your CDs and will enjoy them for years to come. I hope to see you again sometime. - J. Z. - Illinois
5/27/02 Dear Art and Stephanie......I heard your group at Crivitz and at Wavepoint yesterday. Gee...you make beautiful music. I am sooooo addicted to music........thanks so much for the beautiful music...and keeping those wonderful old songs...alive....I really love the ones that you write too. M. V. - Wisconsin
7/23/01 Hey Art! Sorry it took so long for this reply. I had a great time with you all at Harmony Park and I know Rev did too. Once again, we were both amazed at your musical prowess and stamina. If I could be in a jam like that once a month I'd probably live to 150. Also, your new CD is wonderful- beautiful singing and playing! I'm so glad we're going to see you all again in Cecil, and I'm sure we'll get to pick again. Edward Hunter, Blueground Undergrass, Georgia
7/26/01 Hi , we just had to write and
say something about your show. We went over to Amana for the Sat. evening
show, and of course you all were the last show. Save the best for the last
seems to hold true here. AWESOME would describe it, we didn't get a chance to
visit, but we went up and bought a CD Lonely Days, and it is great.
Stephanie's voice is just awesome. If I Were the Wind is # 1, we play it first
everytime we plug the CD in. Can I say AWESOME
again? One of the guys at work is an old time country and folk fan, and he
listened to that song 4 times today When I told him Stephanie wrote it also.
He was totally wiped out. WOW. - D & S - Iowa
5/12/01 Dear Art, I really appreciated your visit to Decatur, and your participation in the Prairieland Bluegrass Classic. You folks are first rate musicians and entertainers, and I hope you will return sometime. I really liked your song about Daddy was a Railroad Man, and I hope you include it on your next CD. Orange Blossom Special is exceptional. Thanks for giving up a weekend at home with your friends and family, and sharing your abilities and gifts with us. Also, I really enjoyed your involvement in the guitar worshop . I was the guy that sat next to you with the Sunburst Gibson J45 that almost took your pick. Bye for now, and great success with your music group. - B. C. - Illinois
